  •   Really excited this place was saved. Have bought games here the previous weeks. After talking to a customer the worker saw me patiently waiting and he went on to tell how he really wasn't trained for the front or the register (maybe get someone who does, genius?!) and to try to make conversation, I mentioned I did mini painting too but I guess he was amped that he had sold some paint and I mentioned I painted too he began mansplained to me about painting and dominated the conversation.

Usually I've gotten great service the previous times but of course with my luck I was rung up by someone who wasn't trained enough on the front? I guess he was known as the guy who specializes in painting or something. Yes, I got rung up. I was also asking if I could preorder a game and seemed flustered (again, get someone who knows. This would have been a great example to say "let me get someone that knows what to do.")

I do still plan to shop here still, hopefully have less awkward conversations with the staff and get this shitty taste out of my mouth, and support this store.

I guess I'm going to avoid this guy and get rung up by the other guys.

That being said. Really nice place. Doesn't smell anymore. I've been coming here the last 5 years.

  •   I've been coming here for decades and decades when it was game empire.  In fact I used to go to the ex- owners' Brothers' Game Empire location in mission Valley/San Diego. That was in the hazard center near the BattleTech center. Both those places are Long gone.

I drove by just yesterday and noted the name change to Odyssey game empire? So I guess the old game empire is gone and was saved by new owners?

It seems entry is only from the back parking lot during pandemic. I stopped on the street in front to look at the door entry. I didn't have a mask because I was just going to look from the door so... I didn't go in. I did look in from the door and outside walking down the side of the street to the windows.

It looks like they have some extensive construction going on plus they had a couple customers walking around. It will be interesting to see what results from the improvements they were working on. I'll definitely come back to check it out and see what I can buy to support the new operation.

  •   This is my favorite game store! My family used to game here when it was Game Empire. I am so happy that the store is back and better than ever. The people who work here are really nice and they are patient with kids and families.

There are now two (2!) pinball games here as well to play.
Plus they really have the most amazing game demo tables, including this one with flying monsters and lava beasts- way cool!

I'm looking forward to coming back, especially when Newbie Night returns!

  •   Odyssey Games (at the old Game Empire location) is an amazing place.  There are thousand of games (board games, table top games, card games, Magic the Gathering events, and even pinball machines!)

The manager Robert is super helpful and the owner Paul is a diehard gamer. They have a great staff of friendly staff members and are always eager to help.

My children love to come here just to see all the cool displays. Highly recommended!
